The production shop is quite naturally situated in Bourg de Péage, a historic home for the shoe industry in the heart of the Drôme. The Royer Group became the owner of the industrial building following the acquisition of Stephane Kélian in 2007. At the time it was a prototyping shop, but the Group has turned it into a fully-equipped production site. Today, fifteen skilled workers make the models for the Stephane Kélian and Charles Jourdan brands, following on from the traditions of the Romans shoe industry. They use their know-how to make top-of-the-range models in which the work on technique, materials and style is taken to extreme levels of complexity. Most of these workers are former Jourdan and Kélian employees: cutters, stitchers, assemblers and quality controller, whose experience is recognized and highly sought-after.
Although marginal compared to the total volume of references distributed by the Royer Group, the “Made in France” production is a greatly appreciated sign of quality in the world of luxury. This is far from mass production and the Bourg de Péage unit is positioned between craftsmanship and small-scale production, with the focus on finishing quality.
